ScriptEd Student Hackathon

2013-2014 Second Semester Hackathon

Ticket Sales Are Closed

Our students are ready to show their skills.

Clear your calendar - It's going down! ScriptEd Student Hackathon kicks off on May 17th, and you're invited to take part in the festivities at Teach for America, 315 West 36th Street (10th Floor). Our students are learning the fundamentals of HTML, CSS and Javascript, and will use the knowledge they've learned this year to build projects with the help of volunteers. At the end of the day we'll give awards for the best project. We hope you can join us!

We need technical volunteers to help mentor our student teams, and nontechnical volunteers to help out with logistical support the day of the event.

ScriptEd brings computer programming education to students in under resourced high schools and strives to change students’ trajectories by opening up opportunities in the tech industry that would otherwise be unavailable. Currently, our volunteers are tutoring approximately 100 students across New York City.

Additional Information

The theme of the hackathon is a surprise, and we'll announce it at the beginning of the event. The themes of our last hackathons have been "Circle, Square, Triangle" and "The Grid", and this semester's theme will be similarly open ended.  Click here, here and here to see some examples of projects from past hackathons.

We'll provide food and drinks throughout the day, but PLEASE BRING YOUR COMPUTER! We'll send registered volunteers additional information in the weeks before the hackathon.

Thanks to General Assembly, Twilio, HP and Teach for America for sponsoring this event!
